Two Centuries Of Bus Evolution
Travelling to various places is easy because of buses. Not owning a car is not a problem as you can commute by bus. If you do not like driving for long hours, you can take the bus and conveniently wait to arrive at your destination. Whatever is the reason, buses make people’s lives easier.
In the old days, traveling was never that easy nor efficient. Before the 1800’s, steam cars were invented but not everyone could afford, but later on the horse bus or horse-drawn omnibus was introduced and people in the city were able to transport to other areas quite conveniently. The horse bus was designed as an enclosed two-bench cabin being dragged carefully by horses and to which the horses are being controlled by the driver who seats in front of the cabin. Double decker horse buses also existed in the past to try to accommodate more passengers by letting them seat on top of the cabin with a back to back bench and dragged by three horses.
The difference of horse carriage is that today, we ride on it for experience and sightseeing while in the past, people had to ride it to be able to get to places and it can sometimes get distressing for them. Some horses are not cleaned and get really smelly and irritable. Travel time of a horse bus can be affected also because horses can get tired and when this happens, it starts to walk slow while pulling the cabin. The spread of the horse flu was another inconvenient factor as drivers were forced to halt their horse bus services.
Cable cars were introduced next back in the 19th century. It was supposed to be designed to transport passengers efficiently but due to operational costs it had to be stopped, as well as the government did not approve because of possible fatalities it may cause.
The next invention was the street car or trolley bus. A street car had to follow rails with different routes placed in city streets and passengers need to go to station stops to ride the street car. This system had a positive effect to both the people and the city because people in the rural area could travel to the city to work. Street cars helped revolutionized many major cities and with its industries as their economy started to rise. Street cars still exist today and some people continue to commute on it.
Commuting started to become convenient as the motor buses were introduced next. With this invention, the number of people commuting increased. Bus companies then started to change their bus designs by increasing the size and seats to accommodate more passengers.
Living in a big city can be quite a struggle especially when you need to go to certain areas. A big city like New York have over 2 million bus passengers daily. Bus trips in Chicago reach to almost 19,000 daily.
The huge number of people riding on the bus every day can get you thinking if the bus gets cleaned right after.
A bus wash is important to keep the bus clean and for passengers to feel comfortable not to get sick when riding the bus. A great bus wash company can provide efficient cleaning of buses and other related services. A clean and hygienic bus will please people and invite more people, therefore a bus must be cleaned with certified bus wash company.
